Exchange OWA Displays Message “This link has been disabled to protect your security”

I have seen this message on a couple of occasions, and every time is was the format of the URL of a link inside an email message. The problem in both cases was that the link was missing the “http://” or “https://” part. Once this leading protocol type was added to the URL, the problem was resolved.
